Kenya PEM Program Receives Boost with New Armoured Personnel Carriers

The government has unveiled a new fleet of modern Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) in a bid to enhance national security and ensure public safety.

The arrival of these high-capacity vehicles marks a crucial step in the 37 billion 5-year Police Equipment Modernisation (PEM) program.

The vehicles were received, inspected, and received by Interior CS Professor Kithure Kindiki at the Port of Mombasa.Taking to his X account, the CS stated that achieving lasting peace demands a swift and unwavering response to all threats to national security.

“The realisation of durable peace, security and stability requires an accelerated and non-compromising posture on all threats to our national security to ensure rapid economic development driven by local and foreign investment,” he said.

Strengthening Homeland Security

The need for robust security measures cannot be overstated. To combat terror, banditry, and other organized violent criminal activities that threaten our nation’s stability, the government has adopted an unwavering stance. The PEM program aims to equip and protect our frontline security personnel, minimizing their exposure while maximizing the impact on dangerous criminals.

“To defeat terror, banditry and other organised violent criminal enterprises that gravely constrain our homeland security ideals, the Government is on a Ksh.37 Billion 5-year Police Equipment Modernisation (PEM) program to equip, protect and minimise the exposure our frontline security personnel in the frontlines of our Country's security operations, and to inflict maximum pain on dangerous criminals threatening public safety,” Kindiki stated.

Vision of a Safer Kenya

CS Kindiki pointed out the program’s significance, stating, “Each new arrival of modern security equipment brings us a step closer to the actualization of the vision of a safer Kenya where the public is protected from the fear of criminal groups of whatever description."
