Mombasa Port celebrated a significant milestone as it welcomed its inaugural vessel from the Korea Maritime Transport Container Line. KMTC manager, Mr. Mayur Udyawar, highlighted that this vessel marks a groundbreaking entry for the African continent, selecting Mombasa Port as its primary destination.

The MV KMTC Hochmihn initiated its service on Thursday, bringing with it 100 TEUs. This development is set to invigorate the local maritime market and solidify Mombasa Port's pivotal role as a leading shipping and maritime hub. As cargo volumes surge, this call is expected to bolster economic growth not only for Mombasa County but also for Kenya on a broader scale.

Mr. Udyawar emphasized the shipping line's strategic decision to position Mombasa as its gateway to Africa. He expressed enthusiasm about expanding their operations and business ventures across the continent. In response, the Kenya Ports Authority extended its appreciation to Mr. Udyawar for choosing Mombasa Port, foreseeing enhanced capacity and efficiency.

Captain William Ruto, the Managing Director of the Kenya Ports Authority, acknowledged KMTC's significant investments in Asia. He emphasized the opportune moment for KMTC to redirect its focus and investments towards Africa, particularly Kenya, instilling confidence in its consistent presence and operations.
